This week
On Monday each class had an exciting physical development session with Little Gym. The children explored using balance beams, trampettes, and bars, as well as experimenting with moving around the space in a range of different ways. IMG_2544IMG_2508

On Monday we were also lucky enough to have the author Alexis Deacon come in to see us! He read us one of his stories ‘Beegu’ and then we experimented with creating our own characters using shapes.

The rest of the week reception enjoyed learning about the book ‘The Tiny seed. The children have been discussing what plants need to grow and why, as well as planting their own cress seeds. We cannot wait to see how much our cress will have grown over the weekend!

Next week
On Monday the children will be taking part in our school-wide Science day, where we are looking at reversible and irreversible changes. We will become scientists, learning the skills of prediction and exploring how and why a range of materials change. The rest of the week our focus will be the story ‘The Enormous Turnip’ where we will be exploring weight and developing our story telling skills.

Our learning
This week our learning section is about Expressive arts and design, one of the specific areas of learning. In Reception, Expressive arts and design includes ‘Exploring media and materials’ and ‘Being imaginative’. Our learning about ‘Exploring media and materials’ focuses on using a range of tools competently and safely. It also looks at exploring and changing textures and expressing themselves through dance and song. Being imaginative involves our learning through role play and playing alongside our friends, engaging them in imaginative play.

Home learning

This weekend get outside and explore the signs of spring arriving! Have a look at what flowers, plants and trees you can see and make a list of your findings.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to learning with you again next week!
