Wow, what a term!

To all of our Year 3 children, we want to say how PROUD we are of you and all that you have already accomplished this term! Each one of you is amazing and we have loved learning with you.

This week has been a lovely end to the term! In English we have been learning about different types of poems:

  • Haiku poems
  • “When” poems
  • Acrostic poems
  • Free verse poems
  • Calligrams

We wrote some beautiful winter poems and look forward to sending them out to people in our community, along with the beautiful cards we created in Art last week.

We have also been reading some lovely winter stories in our guided reading, including ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ by the Grimm Brothers, ‘Why the Evergreen Trees Never Lose Their Leaves’ by Florence Holbrook as well as extracts from ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens.

In Maths, our brains have had a good work out as we have been wrapping our heads around subtracting using the column method. We have been focusing on exchanging tens and hundreds and well as exchanging across zero.

Practice makes perfect so here are some practice sheets to consolidate: Maths sheets wk 7

Thank you Year 3 for being so wonderful.

We wish you and your families a very happy and peaceful Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you in 2021!

See you soon!
